In 1986 Dr. Harvey Bernhardt founded Bernhardt Laboratories to provide improved service in the area of anatomic pathology, a secondary mission for many of the larger labs in the country. For almost 20 years, Bernhardt Laboratories has been serving medical professionals around the country with prompt, personal service. As Northeast Florida's only Independent Anatomic Pathology laboratory, we have served the medical community in the following areas: Surgical Pathology (including Gastroenterology, Urology, Podiatry, General and Plastic Surgery), Dermatopathology, and OB/GYN pathology. Moving into the Molecular Pathology arena, Bernhardt Laboratories continues to be a leader in Florida, constantly introducing new technology and techniques to better the practice of medicine.

In 2002, Bernhardt Labs added a Dermatopathology division led by Dr. Charles Perniciaro. Dr. Perniciaro is one of the country's foremost experts in Dermatopathology having formerly consulted for the Mayo Clinic and serving on many faculties including the University of Florida and Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.
